According to a study published in the Journal of Thoracic Oncology, the five-year survival rate for patients with stage 1 mesothelioma was 46%, compared to just 13% for those with stage 4 disease.

Similarly, the location of the tumor can also affect survival rates. Mesothelioma that affects the lining of the lungs (pleural mesothelioma) has a slightly better prognosis than mesothelioma that affects the lining of the abdomen (peritoneal mesothelioma). 

According to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation, the five-year survival rate for pleural mesothelioma is around 16%, compared to 5% for peritoneal mesothelioma.

Finally, age and overall health are important factors in determining mesothelioma survival rates. 

Younger and healthier patients may have a better chance of surviving mesothelioma than older or sicker patients.

It is also important to note that survival rates are based on past data and may not accurately reflect the latest treatments and technologies available.
